Since 1975, Judy Bistany has been working with clients from Florida to New York City and many places in between. Her projects have included first and second homes, executive offices and restaurants.
Judy Bistany Interior Design was founded in Charlotte, NC in 1975. Since then she has received many honors during her career, including her very first in 1978 when she was asked to serve as a member of the Advisory Panel of Interior Design Magazine, a national publication. In 1984 she was honored as Guest Decorator for the prestigious annual Mint Museum Antiques Show in Charlotte. Also in 1984 The Best of Charlotte named her as one of only two interior designers listed.
From 1981-87 she was a regular contributor to the Symphony ASID Designer Show House in Charlotte. Bill Blass, Celebrity Guest for the 1981 Show House used a single word to describe her show house debut room that year……”Lovely.”
She is a former professional member of ISID (International Society of Interior Designers) and ASID (American Society of Interior Designers). Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her post graduate education includes study of the French language at the Sorbonne in Paris, as well as a degree in interior design from Central Piedmont College in Charlotte, North Carolina. She has been featured in the Charlotte Observer, the Charlotte Weekly East and the Durham Herald newspapers, South Carolina Homes & Gardens magazine, Snell Isle Living in St. Petersburg, Florida and most recently in the fall 2018 issue of Charleston Home & Design Magazine. She has also done radio segments with the CHDM that can be found in their podcasts.
From its inception in 2000 through 2006 she was regional editor for the state wide magazine South Carolina Homes & Gardens, selecting, writing and producing editorial features. Her professional design column, MY TURN, appeared on the back page of the magazine. In 2012 her ebook, The Little Book of Big Things To Always Consider in Interior Design…….Getting It Right The First Time and Every Time, became available for download at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and KoBo. It’s long title belies it’s powerful, simplistic message of universal design principles and creative empowerment.
